Basil Fawlty causes chaos at the Carlton Lodge in Helmsley.


Owners of the Helmsley Bed and Breakfast, the Carlton Lodge, 
Chris and Margaret Parkin thought they'd have the last laugh 
when it came to being compared with the legendary Fawlty 
Towers,  but they soon discovered Basil & Sybil are a tough act 
to follow.



"It's a great compliment to be compared to the legendary 
series" said Chris Parkin who has often been compared to Basil 
Fawlty. "If only we could find our own Major!"




Well known for the relaxed and friendly atmosphere, guests 
have always enjoyed sharing lighthearted quips with Chris 
and Margaret at the Carlton Lodge in Bondgate, Helmsley. 
 
Deciding to prove that they are not exactly like the 
infamous BBC sit-com, Chris bought the complete series on
DVD and offered it freely to his guests to watch in their rooms. 
"It all started when we put DVD players in our rooms and 
let guests wach whatever they wanted from our dvd collection. 
At first they were happy to watch the movies - but it wasn't 
long before Fawtly Towers became the number one choice. 
Then the fun really started!" Chris confirmed.
The trouble starts when guests take on the roles of the 
characters they watched the night before.

"Some mornings it's complete chaos!" Said Chris, "We'll have to 
have a word by word run through of a favourite scene before 
some guests will order their breaksfast!"



"Never underestimate the inventiveness of your guests" said 
Margaret who keeps things running smoothly as Chris quips with
the customers, "Nor their wicked sense of humour!"



Watching the BBC series isn't compulsory at the Calrton Lodge 
as there's a whole library of dvd movies available.
