Hi Chris,

Great to talk to you just now, thank you so much for your help this time and last! Here is a little more information about the programme.

Channel Four has commissioned us to produce a new primetime television programme that will look at the huge variety of Bed and Breakfasts around the country.  We aim to film the first series later this year.

We are now looking for enthusiastic and proud owners of B&Bs who feel that their business stands out from the competition and has something special to offer for the price that visitors are charged.

The series will feature a wide range of B&Bs, but they'll all be run by owners who are deeply committed to their business and can explain in an lively and engaging way why their B&B, and the area in which its located, is so good to visit.

Each week, three Bed and Breakfasts will compete against one another to be that week's best B&B…and the judges of the competition will be the owners themselves -- as they will each visit one another's properties.

This is a brilliant opportunity for owners to showcase their business and highlight why customers should flock to their home. We hope that this programme will also encourage viewers to look at visiting independently run places to stay rather than the larger chain hotels.

I have attached the note and I really appreciate you putting it on the website. Also, if you know of any individuals who you think fit the bill, it would be brilliant if you could pass on their details or alternatively they can contact me.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Many thanks for all your time and help

Emily Hudson

On Wednesday 8 April I had a telephone call from Mike Cotton who works for Studio Lambert and is hoping to produce a TV programme fro Channel 4 on B&B's.

It would appear that the twist this time is a bit like the 'Come Dine with Me' (I'm relying on my good lady here as I haven't seen it) in that 3 or 4 B&B's will be visited by other B&B Owners on the same programme and each business will be assessed by the other operators. The winner presumably, is the one that gets the highest score from the other 3 B&B Owner/Judges.

In the past when we have been approached  by TV Companies for Members who might like to take part in what was just a 'B&B makeover' we have urged caution. We do the same now. Think of all the consequences before you become involved. Do your own 'Risk Assessment' it will be good practice and might just turn up something you hadn't thought of which might be detrimental to your business.

Anyway in the spirit of fair play and not personally knowing 'everything' I have copied his email below with all his contact details just in case you decide ......

Dear Chris,

Thank you for taking the time to talk to me this morning. As requested here is a little more information on the programme we are working on.

Channel Four are keen to make a new television programme that will look at the great British Bed and Breakfasts around the country. We are looking for enthusiastic and proud owners of B&B's who feel that their residence stands out from the competition.

Each week 3 bed and breakfast's will compete against one another to be that weeks best B&B…But the judges in the competition will be the owners themselves -- as they will each visit one another's properties and decide who they deem is the best.

Obviously bed and breakfasts vary in standard -- just like hotels -- and it's not our intention to pitch B&Bs from opposite ends of the spectrum against one another -- as that's not fair or comparable. All B&Bs would a of similar style or standard each week

This is a fantastic opportunity for people to showcase their business and highlight why customers should flock to their home. We hope that this programme will also encourage viewers to look at visiting independently run places rather than the larger chain hotels.

I have attached some further information and it would be fantastic if you could pass the word around any of your members. Also, if you know of any individuals who you think would be interested in this please do let me know!

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

I very much appreciate your help

Mike Cotton
