Online booking, is it for you?
    Chris Parkin

A lot has been written about online booking systems for smaller accommodation providers and the subject is up for review on bandbowner.com.

We started with Guestlink' (New Media) chosen by our newly formed 'tourism partnership'. Its shortcomings quickly became clear, not least that we could only sell through four channels (avenues of exposure/booking) namely

    •  Our website,
    •  Visitbritain/Englandnet/EnjoyEngland,
    •  Our tourist board and
    •  Our local tourism partnership site.

After some research we changed to Eviivo and were then able to sell through some 40 channels, regrettably not Visitbritain/Englandnet/EnjoyEngland, the tourist board or our local tourism partnership site. They were contracted to Guestlink.

I hope some IMPORTANT QUESTIONS will be answered for you as you read through the pages but the decision making process will need our input for you to get the best and final result.

    Important Questions

    • Why do you want an online booking system?
    • What type do you want?
    • When are you going to get it and take the leap?
    • Who is going to supply it?
    • How are you going to manage it?

Most of other questions you will ask yourself are connected with the above but if you can find the answer to these you're on your way to making your knowledge based decision.

Let's start however with the question:
Why are you considering an online booking facility?
